Take a tour of Bangkok’s top Hindu shrines and pray for the gods’ blessings. With the highest density of sacred shrines in the city, Ratchaprasong is a one-stop destination for those seeking divine support for their love life, work life, business, health, academic success or even victory in competition.

Ganesha – Pray for smooth success

Feeling bogged down by work? Stuck in a rut? Pray to Ganesha for strength and wisdom. Devotees of the elephant-headed god believes that he has the powers to remove obstacles. Ganesha is also known as the god of success, knowledge and arts and sciences. If you wish for career accomplishments and a hardship-free life, head to the Ganesha shrine in front CentralWorld (ISETAN side). It is believed that your wishes will come true if you make an offering of 5 joss sticks and 1 candle, marigold garlands, red soda or water, milk, bananas and sugarcane. These items are available at stalls in front of the shrine, but you can bring your own.

Trimurti – Worship with roses for romantic success

The Trimurti shrine in front of Isetan Department Store at Central World is a popular destination for those who wish to find a mate or otherwise be successful in matters of the heart. In Hinduism, Trimurti is the portrayal of the triple deity of supreme divinity: Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the Preserver and Shiva the Destroyer. But in Thailand, Trimurti has come to represent the power to bestow success in love. Believers recommend making an offering of 9 red roses, 9 red joss sticks, 1 red candle, red fruits, juices and sweets. No meat should be offered.

Parvati– Pray for work success

Parvati or Uma, consort of Shiva, is the goddess of power. It is believed that those who receive her blessings will be prosperous and successful. A shrine to the goddess is located at Big C Supercenter on Ratchadamri Road (opposite CentralWorld). Bring an offering of marigolds, jasmines or red roses together with nutty-flavored, odorless or mildly-scented sweets, fruits and grains. Never offer lotuses, fruits with spiky skin, meat or items associated with women. And remember, never place garlands on the goddess’ statue.

Another popular shrine in the Ratchaprasong area is the Indra Shrine in front of Amarin Plaza. King of the Devas (lesser gods), Indra is the god of battle and victory and the protector of mankind. Worshippers usually make offerings of marigold garlands and/or model elephants, as Indra’s mount is the elephant Airavata (or “Erawan” in Thai).
