Early visitors described Phuket as “an impregnable jungle full of tigers, wild elephants, and rhinoceros,” and that’s history. Thailand’s largest island has undergone huge development in the last 100 years. Yet there’s more to this popular destination than palm-lined coves, fluffy cabaret performances, and colorful, Sino-colonial rowhouses reminiscent of tin mining times.

The best way to travel in Phuket is with the Phuket Day Pass. Whether you’re a tourist or an expat, here is why you need it, what to do in Phuket for a day, and more.

It’s Easy to Use

Using phone while traveling

Do you hate waiting in line for tickets? Imagine what it would be like to skip the queue without anyone having the right to do something about it. With the TAGTHAi Phuket Day Pass, you can do just that. To access all the included attractions, all you need to do is scan your QR code at the entrance.

It’s Affordable

saving money for trip

Foodies, history buffs, and adventure- and relaxation-seekers now all get their money’s worth when they visit Phuket, as the pass saves travelers hundreds of dollars. Only one payment is required; that’s it.

TAGTHAi Has Partnered with Various Cafes and Restaurants

Coffee Shop

Start your Phuket day tour with a cup of joe at one of the various cafes included in TAGTHAi’s City Pass.

Sugar Dark Cafe

Visit Sugar Dark Cafe for a pick-me-up. Aside from local coffee, this pretty little cafe near Phuket Town’s Central Shopping Mall specializes in desserts like waffle towers. Irresistibly sweet is also their Korean-inspired Bingsu. The iced treat comes with sweet toppings and chopped fruits. No wonder Sugar Dark Cafe is popular with Thai people. With its rustic wood design that makes the cafe feel homey, it’s a nice place to start your day and travel in Phuket.

Yum Saab Ver

Do you like Halal food? Then you’ve got to eat at Yum Saab Ver, which means very delicious salads. It’s located in front of Rajabhat University, next to the fence. Aside from spicy papaya salad, you can get a salmon salad and meals like fried salmon belly, which you’ll find on the a la carte menu. Designed modestly with artificial grass mats and cushioned containers for people to sit on, Yum Saab Ver feels very local.

Kopi de Phuket

Small and authentic, Kopi de Phuket is a local eatery in the heart of the old town, nodding to Phuket’s Hokkien-influenced past. Come here for chicken curry with roti, or enjoy Phuket noodles under Chinese paper lanterns swinging in the wind.

Hickory

Hickory is a coffee shop near the Royal Phuket Marina, welcoming guests with a family-friendly atmosphere. People can sit indoors or outdoors in a roofed area surrounded by cacti and rubber trees. Hickory offers European food like homemade German sausages. With the Phuket Day Pass, you can get sets like Set D, which includes a cheeseburger made with liver cheese, bacon, pork, and corned beef.

Other cafes and restaurants include Cherna 88, snuggled into greenery, and Steak Ao-Kae, a fish-and-chips-shop and steak restaurant in one.

The Phuket Day Pass Comes with Other Attractions

Hanuman World

Hanuman World

Let’s get this right off the bat: Hanuman World is one of Phuket's must-visit places. With 16 ziplines, 32 platforms, two spiral staircases, three abseils, a honeymoon sling, and treetop walkways, this adventure park is great fun.

Ride the zip line roller coaster’s steel cable if you can handle the adrenaline and approach near-vertical loops and spirals. Soaring through the rainforest at terrific speed for two minutes will have you shouting at the top of your voice.

If that sounds like too much of a thrill, you can also take it easy. Looking down at banana tree plantations as you stroll on the five sky bridges, you can spot a few monkeys jumping on branches and hear the wind whispering in the treetops.

Phuket Eco Elephant Park

Phuket Eco Elephant Park

This elephant park provides ethical interactions with elephants, so there is no riding. Eco Elephant Park also limits the number of daily visitors to offer a more personal experience. Only sixty people are allowed to join the tour in the morning, while another 60 people can come in the afternoon.

While you can’t ride these gentle giants, the owners let you take a mud bath with them. Expect plenty of fun, but avoid wearing your nicest clothes as you will get wet and dirty.

Banana Beach (Koh Hey)

Banana Beach

A 15-minute boat journey from Phuket will take you to Koh Hey, popularly known as Coral Island. The lushly vegetated, 2.5 km-long granite islet lies six kilometers southeast of Phuket. Whether you’re an adventurous type or a laid-back beach bum wondering what to do in Phuket, Thailand, the amazing water and Long Beach’s blinding white sands make it hard to leave.

With the Phuket Day Pass, experience snorkeling or lie back on a catamaran and let the hours slip past gently as the waves rock you into a state of relaxation.

Elephant Jungle Sanctuary

As the name implies, this is another ethical elephant sanctuary in Phuket that won’t let you ride elephants. You can, however, interact with these adorable animals in their natural home. Let them pick shrubs, herbs, bark, or fruits from your hand. You can also bathe them, hear them purr like cats, or blow air from their trunks.

Aquaria Phuket

Aquaria Phuket

With an area of three rai (4,800 sqm.), Aquaria Phuket is Thailand’s largest aquarium on Central Floresta’s B1 Floor in Phuket City. Visiting this attraction would set you back 32 USD without the Phuket Day Pass. From manta rays gliding through the water to bull sharks going around in circles, Aquaria Phuket awaits more than 300 species of some 51,000 aquatic animals.

Please note that a reservation is required one day in advance. You can reserve it before activating your pass.

Massages Are Included at Various Spas Too

Phuket Spa

Sansabai Massage & Spa

Unwind on a leather chair while enjoying a head, neck, shoulder, and back massage. You can also opt for a herbal compress massage, and breathe in the fragrant scent of fresh Thai herbs. Sansabai sits right across from Jungceylon Shopping Mall in the busy Patong district.

The Raintree Spa

Set amid Jamjuree trees, purple orchids, and green, heart-shaped leaves, The Raintree Spa is a retreat for those seeking true relaxation. Step inside, and you’ll instantly catch the frangipani scent. TAGTHAi lets you choose from sets like aromatherapy with essential oils or two-hour Thai massages and foot reflexology. And picture how you’ll feel in the herbal steam rooms and jacuzzi tubs.

You can get other spa benefits at Tarn Tara Spa, set in a tropical garden by a lake. Deep Relax Spa scores with two-hour packages like the body scrub and aromatherapy massage or the Tranquil Package that includes a bath in a mineral and milk jacuzzi and a Thai and foot massage.

There are plenty of reasons to travel in Phuket with TAGTHAi’s City Pass, a wallet-friendly way to discover the island. Enjoy!
